Our podiatry clinic can help treat a wide range of foot and lower leg related conditions, with a thoroughly professional and caring approach.

Pain, discomfort or deformities in the feet often arises as a result of complications from other systemic problems in the body, for example, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, stroke or multiple sclerosis, or muscular dystrophy. Pain and discomfort in the feet can also arise from poor foot function, biomechanical and postural issues, weakened or under-utilised muscles or unsuitable footwear (e.g. steel toe capped boots).

We take into consideration the mechanical function of the lower limb, knee and hip and how your feet contact the ground and how your daily activity levels, normal footwear, posture, pelvic placement and muscle tone may contribute to your sore feet. We also offer a diabetic foot service and regularly check for neurological and vascular changes to health. We also prescribe and manufacture shoe orthotics along with shoe advice.

How does Podiatry work?

Firstly, you will be asked to complete a form providing details of your medical history. After this, the podiatrist will do a number of non-evasive and pain-free tests to check your vascular and neurological health. Visual observations will be made on how you walk and what range of motion you have on certain foot joints, weight bearing and non-weight bearing.

We will be looking for indicators on your feet and also your shoes to paint a full picture of your lower limb health. We will then suggest a working diagnosis and a care plan for you, which may be treated on the spot or it may involve the production of an orthotic (insole), regular visits or a follow up appointment. We can also provide an onward referral to radiography (x-ray), an orthopaedic or podiatric surgeon or a follow-up letter to your GP.

Gait analysis & 3D printed insoles

The Mind Body Clinic is one of the only clinics in Kent and East Sussex offering Phits leading bio-mechanical gait analysis technology and 3D printed orthotics. Phits 3D printed orthotics are the worlds first high-tech 3D printed insoles specifically designed based on dynamic gait analysis, rather than a static impression of your foot.

Our gait and motion analysis utilises cutting-edge technology and scanning equipment to produce high quality 3D images and a report. Whether you are an elite athlete, recreational walker or factory worker on your feet, our gait technology will help your feet to adopt the correct foot motion, improve your movement efficiency and minimise your risk of injury.

Upon completion of a dynamic Footscan® assessment, the orthotics order is sent directly from the Footscan v9 software to Materialise, the largest 3D print company in Europe. Here, the order is manufactured via Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), the most durable form of 3D printing. The material itself is called Polyamide PA 12, and the insoles are produced in up to 6 different densities to ensure the right level of support is afforded to each part of your foot and ankle.
